Report ranks UPMC among nation's top hospitals

U.S. News and World Report placed UPMC on its honor roll for the 10th time.

“This well-deserved recognition ... is a clear reflection of [our staff’s] commitment to providing exceptional patient care,” the hospital’s vice president, Elizabeth Concordia, said in a statement.

The publication ranked UPMC 13th out of the 21 American hospitals it recognized.

Johns Hopkins, in Baltimore, Md., took first place.

Several of UPMC’s specialties also received acknowledgment. Their ranks are as follows:

—Ear, nose and throat — fourth

—Gynecology — seventh

—Respiratory disorders — seventh

—Geriatric care — eighth

—Psychiatry — eighth

—Orthopedics — 10th

—Rheumatology — 10th

—Kidney disorders — 12th

—Rehabilitation — 14th

—Neurology and neurosurgery — 17th

—Digestive disorders — 18th
