The NHL season opened in England Saturday night. According to an Associated Press story, the Anaheim Ducks, the defending Stanley Cup champions, defeated the Los Angeles Kings 4-1. The game was played on the banks of the River Thames in London.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Pitt quarterback Pat Bostick started his first collegiate game on Saturday, becoming the third Pitt quarterback to start a game this season. The 6-foot-3-inch freshman didn't attempt a pass in either of Pitt's initial two drives.
